One of my goals for 2021 was to read more. One book in particular changed my life. After reading the first chapter I immediately went into my garage and pulled out an old notebook and started journaling. Writing everything on paper has given me the time and space to process my thoughts, channel my creativity and help track my progress. Going back and re-reading my thoughts is also really fun/funny. I remember writing about a situation when I was so upset and couldn’t see any way I’d get over it. Less than two weeks later, when I was re-reading that entry, I couldn’t help but laugh at how dramatic I was being.
Writing down my thoughts, feelings, fears, struggles, worries, goals, dreams and wants on paper, without judgement, has been liberating. Journaling has allowed me to put my messy thoughts on paper and reveal new insights. Writing helps strengthen memory, reduce stress and anxiety and helps you achieve goals. If you haven’t started a journal, or think there’s no time, my recommendation would be to start small by writing once a week and go from there.
